Greetings dancers!

The summer is quickly approaching and more things in the works to come. In the meantime the Sunday12pm Congolese class with Mbayero and guests will still be taking place at the Malonga Casquelourd Center for the Arts, 1428 Alice Street, 2nd fl., 12pm - 1:30pm, $15! Please bring a friend or two and spread the word. Please bring exact change if you have it and come on time if possible, it helps the flow of class. See you on the dance floor!  An event series in Oberservance of Breaking the Silence Congo Week


KONGOisms Art. Awareness.Action in partnership with Tulamuisi Productions, Cultural Arts of Gold, Congo Bolingo, and Congo SQ West Kinship Society is the result of a collaboration of a small and passionaate group of artists and organizations with cultural ties to Congo, seeking to raise awareness around Breaking the Silence Congo Week and the ongoing Congolese struggle for human rights.

Thanks again to those who actually came out to support my first class in NYC, those who forwarded the email, passed the word, observed, inquired, wanted to attend but couldn't, and those who were there in spirit. Come and experience extraordinary, electrifying, Congolese dance instructor, performer, and choreographer, as he always brings something unique to the dance floor. Biza is my teacher and I'm always amazed by what he has to offer. He is the Director and Founder of Bichini Bia Congo Dance Theater and currently resides and teaches in Ann Arbor, MI. For those who missed his N. California Tour in the summer, this is another quick opportunity to experience one of the best at his craft. Those of you who attended the tour know what a treat dancing with Biza Sompa was. So, come on back and bring a friend or two. Please spread the word!!!!!!!

A big THANK YOU to those who supported my teacher, BIZA SOMPA, during his Northern CA tour from June 24 - July 3. It was great to have him here since he doesn't get to come often. He'll be back if you missed him! If you did make it out please be sure to update those that missed out so that they can catch him next time. Special Thanks to Muisi-kongo for the collaborative work on behalf of the Fua Dia Congo/Congolese Dance and Drum Workshop, as well as Leslie C, Alseny, Asia, Elizabeth, Cai, and Kris for hosting the workshops in their studio space, we couldn't have done it without you! Again, stay tuned for (CAG)Cultural Arts of Gold artists with future tours, workshops, fundraisers, etc for the (CDDF) Congolese Dance and Drum Festival, which has been tentatively rescheduled for October 6 - 9, 2011....
